Helping Farnham's needy in hardship or distress
The Dempster Trust actively encourages applications from anyone who feels that they may have a need and satisfies the criteria. All applications must be countersigned by a professional, usually a medical professional or someone with standing within the relevant community. Initial enquiries should be made via post or telephone.
Our history
The Dempster Trust was set up in 1908 to help the local sick and infirm. It continues to deliver on its original principles, giving one-off grants for a range of different reasons to those living in and around Farnham.
The Trust is managed by a board of trustees who meet four times a year to review applications but smaller applications can be signed off by the Duty Trustee.
Recent examples of one off grants awarded include:
- contributions to a child's school uniform and school trip
- care alarms for the elderly
- travel costs for a parent to visit their sick child in hospital
- assistance in furnishing a home for a family in need.
The Trust also makes donations to local charities such as Disability Challengers and The Alzheimer's Society.
